The Convocation Award — overall excellence

Four certificates tell the year-by-year story; this one tells the whole story. Presented on graduation day for overall excellence across the entire Diploma of Commerce programme — the capstone of my college journey.

§ The certificate that covers two years in one line

Every award on this website marks a specific achievement — a diploma, an exam year, a certification. The Convocation Award is different: it is the summary honour, presented at the convocation of the Government College of Management Sciences-II, Ring Road Peshawar, under the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Higher Education, Archives & Libraries Department, for outstanding academic performance and dedication to studies across the entire D.Com programme.

In plain words: it says that when the full two-year record was examined — first year and final year, every subject, every exam — my overall performance stood among the very best of my batch. In accounting terms, if the yearly awards were individual journal entries, this is the trial balance: the moment everything is totalled, and the totals are confirmed correct.

§ What the record adds up to

The D.Com programme totalled 1,400 marks across both years, and I earned 1,056 of them — closing the programme with the 2nd position in my college. Behind that single number sit the performances this website tells piece by piece: the first-year excellence built on 92/100 in computer applications to commerce and 90/100 in business mathematics & statistics, and the final-year excellence crowned by 95/100 in computerised accounting.

But the number I am proudest of is not printed on any certificate: two diplomas, both finished with 2nd position in college, at the same time. The convocation ceremony recognised the commerce record; only my family and I know the full DIT record that was earned in parallel — 83.4%, its own excellence award, and a capstone project that became a live product.

Graduation day: walking up to receive this certificate while my parents watched is a memory I will keep for life. Their prayers and support are recorded in every entry of this journey — my share is only the effort.

§ Why a summary honour matters most

Consistency is the rarest form of talent. Anyone can have one strong semester; sustaining performance across two demanding years — through subject changes, exam pressure, and in my case a second diploma running in parallel — requires systems, not just motivation. This award is the evidence that my systems held.

That is exactly why it means something beyond sentiment. When I apply for internships, when I sit in front of a future employer, or when a parent is deciding whether to trust me with their child’s commerce education, the Convocation Award communicates in one glance what would otherwise take a long conversation: this person finishes what he starts, at a high standard, over long horizons.

§ From convocation to the next convocation

The day after convocation, the next chapter had already begun: the BS Accounting & Finance programme at IMSciences Peshawar, with its ACCA accreditation and 9 paper exemptions. My route map from here is specific — complete the degree with distinction, progress on the ACCA pathway, keep building LearnFinity into something that helps thousands of students, and step by step prepare myself to serve in a state, government or private organisation where clean, honest, high-quality financial management genuinely changes outcomes.

Every professional, in any era, has one convocation that closed a chapter and one that is still ahead. This page holds my first. Insha’Allah, the next one — degree in hand, ACCA letters after my name — will deserve a page of its own.
